Pixo created a modern and super-functional website for The Illini Union that unifies all of the diverse services the Union offers as well as increases foot traffic and student investment. The Union’s new website was unveiled on January 17th, 2014 at union.illinois.edu.
Through this unique redesign, Pixo brought to light the Union’s cozy, vintage cool factor and abundance of offerings.
The Illini Union is home-base for the University of Illinois student body. The historic building at the base of the campus Quad provides a safe haven where students, faculty, and alumni can eat, shop, study or get involved with one of the 1,100 Registered Student Organizations.
Pixo architected the site to seamlessly allow users to find out about all of the happenings on campus and at The Union in the “Events” section, find places to study or hang out with friends, see the food court menus, and learn about valuable student resources. The goal of thew new site’s look was to communicate Illini Pride while also highlighting the unique “vintage” architectural elements within the walls of the Union. Pixo art-directed the photography for the main images on the homepage of the site to give the user an intimate look inside the Union. Messaging that reinforces all of the activities and resources ‘at the Union’ promotes the Union’s versatility and makes it “THE” place to be.
