Project Management Lead
An east-coast transplant, Samantha moved to Champaign to complete her postdoctoral fellowship in 2013 and joined Pixo in 2018. Over the course of the last decade, Samantha completed her PhD and postdoc in (theoretical) physical chemistry and then worked at a few companies in UIUC’s Research Park. While physical chemistry might seem like a strange segue into software development and project management, Samantha isn’t your typical chemist. She traded in her beakers and hazardous chemicals long ago to study the physics and mathematics of chemical processes behind the safety of a computer screen, writing her own chemistry (quantum mechanics!) models to solve problems of scientific interest.
Her inherent organizational skills, years of committee work, coding development background, and strong scientific modeling proficiency have proved to be good fits in the world of science & technology project management.
As Pixo’s new project management lead, Samantha is passionate about team-centered workflow, building cool tech, and the processes that pull the two together. In her free time, Samantha enjoys the company of close friends and family; nerds it up with anime, sci-fy, and the golden era of Hollywood; and partakes in foodie fun, including a love of finely crafted cocktails.
Project management, organizational and process improvements, long-term projection and roadmapping, software development, agile/scrum, cross-functional team workflow, science & technology research & development, data analysis, scientific computing and modelling, and technical writing
