James Mortland joined Pixo in November 2012 as our cherished Systems Administrator.
James is an outdoorsman, enjoying primitive camping and hiking. He is a US Army veteran of 3 years as a Cavalry Scout, followed by 11 years with the Army National Guard in various positions as a logistics soldier and officer. He has a BA in Rhetoric from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
After 3 years working full-time for the Illinois National Guard, creating and developing the Training Sites’ Geographic Information System technician position, he worked for the University of Illinois Extension as a GIS technician.
James is married, and a father of three boys, living in Monticello, IL. He feels driven to support various social justice, civil liberties and electronic privacy causes. He also advocates for the use of free open-source software as the sustainable future of computing.
